Smells of the forest. Sights of the mountain. Conveniences of home. Welcome to our little secret in Shenandoah! Our chalet is situated on the hills surrounding Shenandoah Valley. Walk 25 minutes to the river. Drive 10 minutes to the national park entrance and Skyline Drive. Roads are in excellent condition year-round. Your guest suite is on the ground floor, recently finished, with a private entrance (separate from the main house), with access to outdoor space, deck, swings, fire pit etc.
Good to know
Our 2 bedroom 2 bath guest suite is a separate private unit located at the basement of the house (lower level windows in the photo). Note: For larger groups, we also offer the full house (separate listing). In any case, you will be the only group staying at the property and have the entire outdoor spaces to yourself. We have a hammock and two swings as well as a fire pit. The main deck has patio furniture, outdoor dining table, and a charcoal grill. Please note that the kitchen has an electric stovetop and a microwave but no oven (due to county restrictions). There is also a fridge, dishwasher, toaster, French press/Nespresso coffee maker in the kitchen area.

We are part of Thunderbird Farms, spread across the hills, governed by a property association. Some roads are privately maintained by the association. They are in great shape! Our neighbors are friendly -- you will rarely hear them but you might hear their dogs. Other neighbors include birds, deers, feral cats, bears, hares, beavers and so on!
Guest Access
You can park in front of the house. Just please make sure garage doors are not blocked. **Please Read** Getting to the guest suite requires either walking through the (sloped) backyard grass or through the deck, which includes two short flights of stairs. Guests with limited physical abilities should consider this. Feel free to reach out if you have specific questions! Detailed check-in instructions will be provided closer to your check-in date.

3-minute drive: Rivermont Grocery - a simple but well-stocked grocery store and gas station. 6-minute drive: 619 Market - grocery store, deli, pizza place. 10-minute drive: Highway 340 / Skyline drive 15-minute drive: Front Royal downtown 25-minute drive: I-66 Thunderbird Farms is great for walking or biking. There are few places to access the river -- depending on the weather, kayaking can be a great option.
